Randall Pearce - Managing Director

Randall Pearce - Managing Director

Randall has spent more than twenty years shaping, managing and monitoring public opinion in Canada and Australia. Research has been a constant running through a distinguished career in politics and corporate affairs, including executive roles in some of Canada’s largest peak business and professional bodies. He has an impressive record as an advocate in a wide range of policy areas including public finance, taxation, social services, public health and human rights.

After making his permanent home in Sydney in 2003, Randall founded the Australian public affairs division of the international research firm, Ipsos, where he served as the primary author of the Ipsos Mackay Report - Australia's longest-running programme of social research and helped establish the firm through a series of well-publicised political polling projects, in partnership with several key media organisations.

In 2006, Randall founded THINK: Insight & Advice Pty Ltd. Since then, he has conducted a number of influential studies in policy areas as diverse as education, health, the environment, industrial relations and immigration. He has also managed some large public communication campaigns on important social issues.

In 2008, Randall founded Thermometer Survey, a syndicated research service which provides important insights into ‘the people side of climate change’ for large public and private sector organisations.

Over the years, Randall has established a reputation as a compelling and engaging speaker on climate change and social trends. He is a frequent conference presenter and media commentator.

Randall holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

Dr. Angela Yates – Senior Associate

Angela Yates has a rigorous academic background and extensive experience working in both the public and private sectors. Her key interest is in applying a multi-disciplinary framework to examine issues, using a combination of economic, political, social and environmental perspectives.

In London, Angela worked at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, specialising in compliance with financial reporting requirements. Her clients included central and local government, private companies, charities and NGOs.

After moving to Australia permanently in 2001, she was employed by the University of Sydney to co-ordinate research for the “What Makes a Corporate Champion?” project.

Dr. Yates has a broad-based education including a BA from Oxford University in combined social science and natural science. She was then awarded a PhD from the Political Economy Research Centre at the University of Sheffield.


Samantha Heron - Associate

Samantha Heron is an experienced strategy planner and qualitative researcher. Before moving into the area of consulting she worked for three of Australia’s leading advertising/research agencies; DDB, George Patterson and Sweeney Research.  

Sam's most recent consulting role involved devising the strategy for the repositioning and rebranding of Australia's oldest and largest charity, the now newly named Australian Diabetes Council. She worked closely with the CEO and executive leadership team, and led the implementation of the rebrand during Diabetes Awareness Week 2010. 

 She has moderated more than 200 consumer groups and talked to more than 1500 people from all walks of life across Australia. She holds an honours degree in Psychology.

Sam’s experience spans designing, commissioning, conducting and analysing qualitative and quantitative market research across a range of industries. 

Her passion lies in the not for profit and human services sector.  She has volunteered for the Starlight Foundation on Starlight Day, supervised school students for the Red Cross Door Knock Appeal and volunteered at Father Riley’s Youth Off the Street, Echo Neighbourhood Centre and for three months in 2009 at Casa Hogar/Home for Children in Puerto Escondia, Mexico.
